I'll bet you dollars to donuts, you'll love 350 Bakehouse and Cafe
Summer is here I can’t figure out why those last “few” winter pounds just won't take their leave. I’m sure it has nothing to do with my recent infatuation with 350 Bakehouse and Cafe. It started with one harmless glazed donut. Since then I’ve worked my way through the better part of the pastry case.
It’s called research, people.
While I INSIST you try it out for yourself, here’s a peek:
It might be true that “if you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much”, but it also seems that if you ARE Dutch you make hella good donuts. And cinnamon buns. And croissants. And fritters. Don’t get me started on the fritters.
If you’re needing more than a snack, they have an extensive selection including hearty, European-inspired sandwiches and more.
For a DE-LIIISH-US lunch, I recommend the mouth-watering, shaved rib-eye sandwich. Lawdy.
Aside from the high calibre baking skills, one of those angels-in-white-who-live-in-the-back, is also very creative. I can’t believe how often they announce something new on the menu. They never seem to settle for status quo, introducing new soups, schnitzels, scones, salads… it goes on, day after day, in a delicious parade of tasty revelations. (They do a bang-up job with their social media just to keep us salivating.)
Gluten Free bread? Oh yes.
Hot breakfast? You betcha.
Fresh.
From scratch.
Everyday.
(Except Sundays and Mondays, when they are closed. And it only took me three Mondays to stop showing up on Mondays. #slowlearner)
My friend Lindsay Papp (of ShopKelowna.com - read more about those fab folks in my next post) and I were meeting over cinnamon buns this morning, talking about how 350 Bakehouse & Cafe – a family run, multi-generational business - is at the heart of what it means to shop/support/buy local.
They have done an outstanding job, giving the former Tripke’s Bakery location a fresh look with a new vibe, while maintaining that true, family feel and tradition.
